Research Group

Souvik Maiti (born in 1971) completed his M.Sc (in 1995) in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and PhD (in 1999) in polymer chemistry under Dr. Prabha R Chatterji from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. Then he has carried out postdoctoral research on biophysical aspects of DNA secondary structures in the Professor Luis A Marky’s laboratory at UNMC, USA. He has also worked as a post-doctoral fellow on designing and development of DNA based nano-materials in the Professor Francis Rondelez’s laboratory, Physics Department, Curie University, France. He is currently working as Senior Principal Scientist in the Proteomics and Structural Biology Unit of Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, CSIR, Delhi, India. Dr. Maiti and group carry integrated research with main focus on understanding nucleic-acid structure and function, and extrapolating this information in understanding the subtle mechanism of gene regulation.
